Tribaljazz certainly displays a lot of variety and versatility on their self-titled album from Hidden Beach. Some selections feature Art Ellis on alto playing hard bop, there are Afro-Cuban jazz numbers, a bit of folklyric music, and a couple of harmless rap pieces, including one that pays tribute to John Coltrane (with Ellis contributing some effective soprano-sax).8/

Tribaljazz brings a provocative and energetic new voice to the jazz and jamband world. Tribaljazz is an experience-it's a seductive groove, with driving rhythms, that draws a wide eclectic audience - from jazz aficionados and Classic rockers, to cutting edge jamband followers without age or cultural limits/5(12).

Oct 17,  · TribalJazz is "world music". A joyful, intelligent ride into new realms. I particularly love the sequence "The Last Time I Heard Coltrane", "Piano Interlude", "Lyria". I simply cannot get enough of "Lyria". Whether or not you love The Doors, please check out TribalJazz/5(12).

I encourage all of you to check out the new Tribaljazz cd. Its from John Densmore, the legendary drummer of The Doors and is a cool collection of jazz as only John can deliver. It reminds me alot of Spro Gyra and The Yellowjackets from the late 80's. Standout songs to me include: Skytrails, Blues for Bali, and Riders on the Storm.
